Bonkers Postbox
The Bonkers Postbox
There are stories hiding everywhere.
Mr Morton is always on the hunt for new ones to add to the Barmy Book. The trouble is, the good ones are experts at hiding.
They lurk under beds. Behind curtains. Inside questions nobody’s quite finished asking. At the bottom of cereal boxes, occasionally underneath the prize. Every now and then, one turns up in the head of a child who was meant to be brushing their teeth roughly four minutes ago.
So Mr Morton needs your help tracking them down.
Maybe you’ve thought of a brilliant title. Perhaps you’ve invented a character so strange nobody’s quite sure what to do with it yet. Maybe it’s a ridiculous question, a very silly problem, or one tiny idea that simply won’t leave you alone.
Whatever it is, send it to the Bookshop.
It doesn’t need to be a whole story. Sometimes the tiniest idea is exactly what Mr Morton needs to get started.
Pop it into the Bonkers Postbox, and we’ll see what it grows into.
And if your idea finds its way into the Barmy Book, Mr Morton will make sure everyone knows who helped him find it.
So keep your eyes open.
There are stories hiding everywhere.
You just have to spot one before it hides somewhere else.

What Happens to My Idea

First, it rattles through the Bonkers Postbox and lands somewhere in Mr Morton’s Bookshop.
Then Mr Morton reads it.
Every single one.
And every single one goes somewhere. Some land straight on the shelf marked Ideas Currently Growing, tucked in beside a hundred other tiny sparks waiting for their moment. Some get pinned to the corkboard behind the counter, where Mr Morton can keep half an eye on them while he works. And some get carried off entirely and turn up somewhere unexpected, as a character, a ridiculous fact, a question, or one particularly bonkers moment.
And sometimes, an idea becomes a brand new story. A whole new Bonkers Bit, added to the Barmy Book itself, sitting right there on the shelf for anyone to find. If yours does, Mr Morton will make sure you get the credit for helping him find it.
Wherever your idea ends up, you’ll find out. Nobody sends something bonkers into the shop and hears nothing back. That’s simply not how the Bookshop works.
Not every idea becomes a full story. But every single one earns its place somewhere in the shop, and every sender finds out where.
After all, nobody knows which tiny spark is going to turn into something enormous, until somebody puts it in the Postbox and the Bookshop gets to work.
